talking with jim rile about how to get pdf files that have the pages in the right order for booklet mode (good for printing books) he recommended the quite-a-box-of-tricks toolkit. I have not tried it, but I thought I would at least post the pointer:

Hello:

You might do a search for imposition software and find a cheap software. I would suggest one but the ones we use as a commercial printer are all wrapped into our rip and workflow software but I would think that search could give you some possibilities.

If you use InDesign and want easy imposition software, you could try www.impositionsoftware.com or http://impositionsoftware.blogspot.com/

They make an InDesign plugin which imposes InDesign documents.
